Personality:
- He's not a person of trust. Neither trusting others nor to be trusted. It'll be extremely difficult for him to let down his guard and trust someone.
- Doesn't cares about what people think of him. He's learned to be polite and fake smiles in order to win people over. But if provoked, he'll be rude but he prefers to avoid pointless confrontations.
- He's laconic and sarcastic, often playfully teasing for his own amusement.
- He's a no-bullshit guy. Sees through lies without much effort. Doesn't waste time explaining himself or pretends to eat up any lies.
- He does, however, enjoy deep conversations and exchanging of opinions, something he doesn't get very often. He enjoys sharing his passion about cars and rock music, as well as traveling.
- He never opens up about his childhood and parents, although his mother remains a dear part of his life. He visits her resting place every year. But the few times Ruohan is mentioned is through heavy sarcasm and pure distaste.
- He's highly allergic to fur. Stays away from pets and, despite trying different types of medication, he's very sensitive to it.
- Not a hugger. If a moment is emotional and justifies physical touch, then he'll be affectionate. However, it's best not to cling on him unless the muses are so deeply connected he himself seeks physical contact. Otherwise, even if it's a relative, he doesn't like to be touched.
- Keeps his distance from children, considering them too pure and himself unworthy of being even near them. Maybe they pose a small reminder of what he can never have and that makes him sad. They stress him out most of the time.Relationships:
- He's very close with his brother, despite bickering and insulting one another all the time. The two are inseparable. Nothing matters to him in the whole world as much as Chao's safety.

- Has a handful of friends, but no one that he trusts fully, but his brother. But for those people, he'd do anything. He has stationed people looking after them, in fear his father might wish to harm them.
- Should anyone manage to get through his walls, Wen Xu loves fiercely and unconditionally. He'll devote himself to protecting them from everything; himself included.
- For him, marriage is a concept that was never meant for people in his line of work. However, even the most impossible dreams can come true. But at what cost?Taste:
- He has a passion for classic and vintage cars. Not only since it's the family's original family business, but also because he finds machines easier to deal with than people.
- He drives a Chevrolet Impala, a '67 model of black color. (x) He remade the car, buying it at a state unable to reconstructed; it required skill, time and money and it wasn't worth it. However, years passed that he learned the craft and restored it fully. Now 'his baby' is more beautiful and powerful than ever.
- He's a lover of classic rock. Not a fan of reading, but a lover of art. Anything on the opposite side of violence and as peaceful as art, he cherishes. His apartment is heavily decorated with paintings, often original pieces from famous artists.
- He lives in a luxurious penthouse close to the car dealership office. (x)
- He dresses on point even at the simplest of occasions. It's a rarity to leave the house out of a suit and tie.
- He has a small gym next to the garage of his building. Lifting weights and training on martial arts helps him let off some steam.
- He has a sleeve tattoo on his left arm that connects with one on his chest blade, where the family crest rests over his heart, drawn with artistic liberty.
- He's rarely fully naked in front of others. He has good reason not to show himself.

Backstory

Story in 4 parts.

Part one

Born into the political Wen Dynasty of the Shaanxi Providence, Wen Xu had expectations since day one. His father, Wen Ruohan, was a man unfamiliar with affection and a twisted way of showing his care for his children, no matter their age. His childhood is blank, nonexistent. His brother's birth was also his mother's passing, as complications had weakened her body. Her name was forbidden to ever speak out loud.Wen Xu did everything in his power to raise his brother, since their father was never interested. He recalls at least 4 nannies that he feels like family more than his blood-related one. Wen Ruohan was a cruel man, one that believed that pain was the unlimited weapon of educating.
They grew up abused and terrified until Wen Xu was 16. That was the age of awakening. His behavior changed, he became silent, more strict with his reactions and feelings. He followed his father's wishes and stopped going against him, which slowly made the older man relax and start trusting him.And so, his training began. The Wen Family owned the car trade long before they took interest in politics, two generations ago. Despite still maintaining their fame in the world of antique, rare and luxury cars, their main focus was on power. And so, Wen Xu was meant to follow his father's footsteps, as the firstborn.
But Wen Xu's training included the family's actual source of income and power: an underworld ring. Protection, illegal trade, black market ties, prostitution, gambling; attacks, framings, murders, torturing. The first time Wen Xu witnessed his father torturing a man, he threw up and took a heavy beating because of it. The second was better. The fourth he assisted. The seventh he lead the whole thing.And he was a natural. Wen Xu himself had a great tolerance when it came to pain, so he learned how to inflict the most pain with simple tools. Torturing, as sickening as it was, seemed to be in his blood. As was combat. He learned one martial art after the other, to a point where by the time he was in university, he already knew 4 martial arts.*Part 2

Part two

University was mandatory, following the path to politics was a must, for the eyes of the common folk. So would Chao, who was meant to own the car dealership, as well as work in the shadows with them. That that soon came to a change. Wen Xu studied for a year and a half and he already knew he hated politics. And after long and surprisingly civil discussion with his father and brother, they all agreed that Chao -who was a natural at politics, yet not that good at inflicting pain or fear to others- should follow the life in the spotlight. It fitted their personalities more. Chao make noise and Wen Xu was silent.But at the second year of uni, he moves to Gusu, quite far from home. He continues his studies in Political Science and Chinese Political Studies at the Gusu University. Something about a gang war that Ruohan tried to handle and needed his children away. While Chao just started studying, Wen Xu entered his third year. And across the hall from him lived a girl.
She was pretty, not because of her face or her body or her style. But because of the fierce green eyes, the peaceful smile, and her beautiful words. Wen Xu was awestruck. For the first time in his life so far, he wished to pay attention to someone that was not of his world. Not family related. Not important.And then, she became the most important thing of his life. Lan Lieren was everything Wen Xu needed and yet he wouldn't dare dream. She was kind and thoughtful, incredibly smart and silver tongued, beautiful inside and out; and overflowing of love. A thing Wen Xu experienced for the first time in his life.
While Chao barely cared about his older brother's profound care about that girl, Wen Xu fell in love with her. Through her, she met her brothers -Lan Xichen who he liked so much, finding a fellow overprotective older brother and someone that made him feel surprisingly safe- and more of her friends. They became a team, while the couple was thriving.And, for the first time in his dark life, Wen Xu felt normal.Wen Ruohan would never allow that. His son wasn't weak, and a weakling with a pretty smile and a famous name was not something he'd allow in his son's life. He had plans for Wen Xu. He was meant to carry the weight of the entire underworld ring, while Ruohan would move to politics fully and aim for higher positions of power, while using every mean in his possession to insure their family would reach the top of the top. Power-hungry was not a term strong enough to describe that man.*Part 3

Part three

And so, he started sending messages to his son, not via letter or call. At first, it was people watching them. Then following Lieren. Then people trying to mug them. Then cars almost stepping on them. Innocent acts, same people. The pattern was clear.
One night, after dropping Li to her family house and returning to his dorm, he found Chao badly beaten and tied on a chair, his mouth duct-taped. He barely had time to fight back whoever attacked him and failed. Then their father came out of the bathroom, wiping his hands on a towel.
He'd beaten Chao for information on his brother's whereabouts.Jumping straight to the point, Ruohan explained to his eldest that if he wished to drag the girl into their world, she would be killed within 6 months, at best. That she was nothing but a liability and that there was a choice to be made: either he would move away from all those people that did nothing but hold him back, or one-by-one they would meet horrible accidents. One way or another, they would leave Wen Xu's life. He nodded, finally allowed to stand without anyone holding him against the ground.The beating he received barely meant anything to him, barely delivered pain. The moment their father and his men left the dorm, he untied his little brother and, as rare as it was, they stayed hugged for a long time. They were the same scared boys that his in the closet when they heard him scream and wished he'd never come to look for them. Just like that time, Wen Xu's back was against the wall, his brother curled in his arms. Annoying as Chao was, Wen Xu would set the entire world on fire if anything happens to him.
Why did their father hate them so much? Why was this life not a choice? Chao himself -though he'd never admit it- had made friends. Why was this so impossible, to be a Wen and live in peace?They never got an answer.*Part 4

Part four

Wen Xu changed. He started being rude and mean to everyone, started mistreating Lieren. He hated himself every time even more, as she was breaking. As he used her insecurities against her, ruining her trust and self-esteem even more. He used to be the one to listen to her deepest fears and try to ease them. Now he worked to made them stronger.
He became someone that sickened him. Some new 'friends' that were convincingly from Nightless City too, started being around him more. Make disgusting jokes about Lieren, that he had to feed. In a way, he let something very dark inside of him take over and hurt everyone he cared about.The Lady Lan had enough, after about 4 months. They broke up at a party, making a huge scene. Wen Xu didn't utter a single word for two weeks, other than the necessary words to professors or cashiers. No, this was a mistake.
He tried to talk to Lieren again, to her brothers. All he earned -and it was perfectly justified- were punches, death threats and hatred. And that ruined him. To see something he found on his own, something so pure and warm as friends and a partner, being taken away from him by his own actions.'It's for the best' Chao had told him. It didn't feel like it.
Finishing uni, Wen Xu returned to Qishan. Nightless City had never felt so colorless before.He did as asked. Alone and doing nothing but training, working and running the show from the shadows, years passed. He's now in his early 30s with more money than he could ever spend, lovers that pass by in a blink of an eye, cars and houses, stylish clothes, power.
He speaks 5 languages and has mastered 4 martial arts. He's an expect at torturing people, with a record of 18 hours nonstop. Nicknamed 'the Torturer' within his own clan, he's earned their fear and respect; truly his father's son.He has everything others want, on the outside. Success, money, power.And for what?Wen Xu was born into a family that never allowed him to be anything else but a Wen.
He has to make the best out of it. And learn to live without breathing.

Sect Leader Wen's firstborn son, carrying the title of The First of the Twin Phoenixes of Qishan, that he carries with his brother.
Wen Xu stepped up where his father has stepped down: the actual governing of the people of Qishan.
He's the one that ensures his people are protected from harm, their trading routes are safe, the have food to eat and life could keep going under the watchful eye of a leader who cared for their prosperity.Young Master Wen had been a Sect Leader long before the title rested officially on his shoulders.
Meanwhile, he witnessed his father -a twisted, cruel man- getting poisoned by the demonic powers of the Yin Iron and his own lust for power.Just as war begins and with his younger brother's loyalty to their father remains unbreakable, Wen Xu makes a decision: he would not allow himself or Chao to become just like their father. Nor sacrifice their people because of his mad desire for power.At the Siege of Cloud Recesses, he requests a meeting with Sect Leader Lan. And he surrenders.In return, he'd offer all his knowledge, in order to take down Wen Ruohan, with two conditions: his people and his brother to be kept alive. The innocents.With a false rumor of the siege being a failure and the Young Master's death, Wen Xu and his men -those loyal to him- choose their side in this war.
And with Wen Ruohan defeated, Wen Xu finally finds peace.With Ruohan's downfall, the other clans appoint a council to supervise him and anyone else involved into the goverment of the Wen nation. Though born and raised a leader, Wen Xu knew he damaged the trust between him and his own people.
He betrayed his clan once and it was forever.
For their sake, he'd carry the weight of disgrace. For a good cause.He willingly steps down. As the Wen Siblings -Wen Qing and Wen Ning- are called to take over and correct the mistakes their predecessor made, Wen Xu retreats to one of the 5 Main Clans and serves them as an advisor. Or simply lives as a commoner away from Qishan. Both options seem honorable to him, pride long forgotten.Even if his people and his brother hate him forever, Wen Xu knows in his heart, that he did the right thing.[ Verse can adjust depending on plotting, but usually Wen Xu leaves his duties as a leader. However, there are occasions he either remains as Sect Leader post-Campaign, or he and the last Wen remnants join Wei Wuxian at the Burial Mounts. Dms are always open for further discussions. ]
